Jackson comes with Swagger
The Addition of Joe Jackson to the Memphis Tigers 2010 Reruiting class is huge. Now you notice I didn't say surprising because it wasn't. The White Station Prep sensation was expected all along to commit to his home town school. The change at the top wih John Calipari out and Josh Pastner in could have been a factor in Jackson going elsewhere, perhaps to Kansas or UT, but it wasn't. That's because Pastner was relentless with Jackson and never took his foot off the gas.
Joe Jackson is a top 15 recruit, he's the most sought after Memphis product since Penny Hardaway. Jackson's game reminds me of a young Allen Iverson, the newest member of the Grizzlies. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying J.J. has Iverson talent, but he has Iverson potential. He's small but strong. He can drive amongst the trees, take a licking, and still score the ball. He has a court awareness and a presence like only a handful possess. Most importantly he has an Iverson-like Swagger. It's a cocky confidence that puts Jackson above the rest. He is a natural born leader.
The most important thing now for Jackson is to keep his head out of the clouds. He needs to communicate better and put more trust in people that are putting trust in him like the fans and even the media. Most importantly he needs to have a great senior year, enjoy the spotlight, and keep up the grades. When Jackson steps on the collegiate court it's a whole different ball game. Will he be ready? I think he will!
